Membership

Welcome to the Pensacola Association of Realtors®! We’re honored to have you join us. With all the new things a new Realtor® does to start their new career, the process of joining the Association can sometimes be confusing. We have put together a New Member Information Worksheet to make the process a little easier. If at any point you have any questions, just remember we’re just one phone call away. (434-5507)

Where do I start?

Step 1: Faxing in your RE-10 to PAR

Once you know with which real estate office you’re going to start your real estate career, have your broker fax us a copy of your RE-10 at 432-2615. We’ll need to get your RE-10 at least one day before you come into join so we have time to set you up in our system. The RE-10 with your broker’s signature on it tells us:
1. where you’re working, and

2. we’re authorized to issue you an MLS User Name and Password

Step 2: Making a New Member Appointment

Call Laurie Moritz, PAR Member Services Coordinator, at 434-5507 to set up a New Member Appointment. New agent appointments are scheduled on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 9:30AM and 2:30PM. As much as we’d like to, we can not accept walk-in appointments. Laurie will schedule your New Member Appointment and tell you what it will cost to join the Association.

Membership dues are $387 a year. Your dues are prorated to the month you join. In addition to your membership dues, you will pay a $200 application fee. When you call to schedule your new agent appointment, Laurie Moritz will give you the total amount you will need to bring to your new agent appointment.

If you have paid your 2012 dues to another Association, please contact them and request a “Letter of Good Standing”. With a current letter of good standing the state and/or national dues portion of your PAR Membership can be waived.

We accept cash, check, and the following credit cards: Visa, Master Card, Discover, and American Express.

Step 3: What to expect at your New Member AppointmentWhen you come to your New Member Appointment, you will need to bring:

1. A copy of your real estate license, or the Promissor print out showing you have passed your state exam, and

2. Membership dues payment

When you arrive for your appointment you will:

1. Fill out your application to join the Pensacola Association of Realtors,
2. Pay your membership dues to the Pensacola Association of Realtors, Florida Association of Realtors, and National Association of Realtors (that’s right, when you join PAR, you’re joining three Associations, not just one),
3. Receive your MLS login information and NRDS ID. Pronounced like “nerds”, NRDS = National Realtor Database System ID. Your NRDS ID is like your social security number in the Realtor® world. And
4. Go over key highlights of three ring notebook binder commonly referred to as the New Member Handbook to help you get started with the Association. This handbook will be yours to have and to hold forever and ever, so don’t be shy about writing in it because you get to take it home.

Step 4: Don’t forget….
After you’ve paid your membership dues there are two more things that you must do to keep your membership current. Within the first 90 days of joining the Pensacola Association of Realtors® you will need to
• Complete the online code of ethics training
• Take an Indoctrination Class held the first Tuesday of every month at the PAR office from 1PM – 4PM. (You only have to attend one Indoc Class.)

Laurie will go over this with you when you join, but please don’t forget about these two items!

Yaaay! You’re now a member!

“KEY?” What’s this thing called a “key”?

You will need a “key” to open lockboxes in order to show property. Rule of thumb, if you are taking floor calls or showing property, you will need to get a key. If you’re thinking,“Wait! Can’t I just borrow my friend’s key?” The answer is, “No”. It is a $1000 fine for each time you use a key that is not assigned to you. So in the long run, it really is a good idea to get your own key.

When it comes to getting a key, you have three choices:
1. Display Key:
This is the basic little black key that will open lockboxes. It may not have all the bells and whistles the other keys have, but it does the job and based on annual billing is the least expensive of the three. The costs of a Display Key are
• $80.00 set up fee, and
• $181.031 year lease, and/or
• $25.00 optional insurance

2. E-Key:
As far as key envy goes, the E-Key is more elaborate than the Display Key, but not as fancy as the Treo phone. You will need to either go to www.supraekey.com or call Lois Smock, Supra Support Coordinator, at 434-5507 to see what Palm Pilots are compatible for the E-Key. After you purchase the Palm Pilot, the costs for this key option are
• $80.00 set up fee
• $32.51/month for professional service (includes MLS access) or

$21.49/month for basic service (does not include MLS access)

3. Treo Phone:
This is the Cadillac of the three key choices. You can use your phone, access the MLS, and open lock boxes all with one handheld device. You will first have to purchase your Treo phone. You will need to either go to www.supraekey.com or call Lois Smock, Supra Support Coordinator, at 434-5507 to see what Treo phones are compatible with the Supra software. After you purchase the Treo phone, the costs for this key option are
• $80.00 set up fee
• $32.51/month for professional service (includes MLS access) or
$21.49/month for basic service (does not include MLS access)

Do I need an appointment to get a key?
Yes! You need to make an appointment to get a key. As much as we would like to, we can not accept walk in appointments for new keys.
Display Key appointments are taken on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 10AM and 3PM. E-Key and Treo phone appointments are scheduled for Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.
Hint: If you want to schedule you’re new member appointment and get a Display key all on the same day, Laurie can make both appointments for you. One call, two appointments one right after the other, and all done in one morning or afternoon! How easy is that?
All other key appointments, whether they are for a Display key, E-Key, or Treo phone must be made with Lois Smock, Supra Support Coordinator at 434-5507.

Am I done yet?
You may never be totally “done”, because in the real estate world as soon as you think you’re done with one thing, something new will inevitably come up. But by now you have a good idea of what you need to do to get started with the Pensacola Association of Realtors®.
